Apple has agreed to pay $95 million in compensation after Siri was found to have recorded users' audio without their permission. The case was settled out of court and users in the United States can receive compensation of $20 for each device they own, with a maximum limit of 5 devices per person. For your information, the class action lawsuit was filed in 2019 after a Guardian investigation found that Siri could be activated accidentally by users. Audio recordings used for training purposes were then listened to by third-party contractors. Among the recordings were private conversations, and discussions with doctors that violated users' privacy.
The affected devices are iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV. After the report was published, Apple apologised and said that audio recording would no longer be possible.
