Apps can send ads via push notifications on your iPhone now (but you don't have to see them)

Ads on your mobile phone are one of the most annoying things to encounter. If you're using apps for free, there's a good chance that you will be greeted by an advertisement every few minutes (just like YouTube's two ads policy in longer videos /rolleyes). However, Apple is trying out something new and depending on how your point of view is, it may be a good or bad thing.

According to Apple's updated App Store Review Guidelines, it seems that apps at the Apple App Store will be able to send you ads and promotions via push notifications. Of course, the user has the option to authorize it or not and should you choose to allow it, expect to see ads popping up in your notification box. Should the app developer abuse this feature to send spam or phishing promotions, their services will be kicked out by Apple. This also means that you won't have to see any annoying ads anymore by shutting down the push notifications manually in the settings anymore.

Moreover, Apple will be more strict on "dating" and "fortune telling" apps from now on. The company intends to reject any related apps "unless they provide a unique, high-quality experience". Also, instead of app developers asking users for custom review prompts, they are required to use the official API by Apple for customer's reviews and ratings.

Looks like Apple is doing a good job on monitoring any "phishy" activities in their App Store. Stay tuned for more tech news at TechNave.com.
