According to AppleInsider, Apple has been granted the rights to a patent for a “ring input device with pressure-sensitive input”. Simply said, the company is planning to make the ring as a notification device and as an input mechanism. Apple does not plan to make a common smart ring, as Apple’s ring patent shows a fixed centre ring and a rotating outer ring.
That means your Smart Ring could receive a notification from a smartphone and generate a vibrating alert. Rumour also suggests that this device will be compatible with other sister devices such as smartwatches, health monitoring devices, headphones, earbuds, and so forth. We have yet to confirm other details, but you could expect the smart ring to provide inputs to smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart home devices.
