The Google I/O Event was launched a few hours ago so if you missed staying up watching it, we got the deets. The company has announced a lot of AI functions and in this article, we will be covering a new way to search your photos with Gemini.

Promptly called Ask Photos, Google plans to use this function for Google Photos with AI. As one of the first products built with AI, Google Photos will be getting a huge upgrade to allow users to look for a specific photo or video of people, pets, places and many more.

Google said with Ask Photos, users can ask and look for an image in a natural way. For example, say "Show me the best photo from each national park I’ve visited.” and Google Photos will search for what you're looking for instead of having to scroll endlessly. You can also ask "What themes have we had for Lena’s birthday parties?” and the AI will do its job.

Aside from asking the AI to help search your old photos and videos, you can also ask it to help create a highlight reel if you have taken multiple photos throughout the day. If you have taken a lot of similar photos, Ask Photos will curate the best photos and even write a personalised caption for your social media post.

Ask Photos will be an experimental feature rolling out over the next few months and also, Google emphasized protecting your privacy and your Google Photos personal data will never be used for ads. What do you think of this feature? Let us know and look out for more I/O news.
