As of 1 March 2024, Sales Service Tax (SST) has gone from 6% to 8%. Although not all items are affected, this is a different case for the telecommunication service which is a category that Astro falls under.
In line with the Government’s announcement, the Astro Pay TV services SST rate has been revised to 8% but Astro Fibre will remain at 6%. In the FAQ section, it is noted that the Astro services payment will not increase. However, there will be an increase in the total amount payable with the revised SST.
For those who will pay their bills this month, customers will see a proration of 8% from the 1st to the 14th of March in the next bill issued on the 15th of March 2024. For technical visits, the current fees will remain unchanged as the 8% Service Tax is absorbed by Astro. As for installation fees, current fees will remain unchanged at 6% Service Tax. It has already been included in installation fees, as 2% will be absorbed by Astro.
