To commemorate Malaysia’s 66th Independence Day, Astro rewards its customers with a new kid-friendly feature and 2 new channels. These channels include #DemiNegaraku (available from 20 August to 17 September) and #Ultraman (available from 20 August to 30 September). That said, what should you know about these channels and features?
In case you didn’t know, the #DemiNegaraku channel (Ch 100) is available for Astro and NJOI customers. Meanwhile, the #Ultraman channel (Ch 400) is only available to Astro customers. Both these channels air on TV, Astro Go and On Demand.
In addition, the #DemiNegaraku channel (Ch 100) features uplifting Malaysian stories and entertainment comprising documentaries, movies, kids, and fresh content from various sporting backgrounds. That includes netball, sepak takraw, archery, sprint race, breaking and track cycling. Some of the shows airing on this channel include Family Feud Merdeka Special (English, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil) and documentaries like The Guardian and Kembara Chef Wan Laluan Sutera.

On the other hand, the #Ultraman channel (Ch 400) airs recent popular series and movies such as Ultraman Blazar, Ultraman Decker, Ultraman Decker Finale: Journey to Beyond, Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Destined Crossroad and so forth. Interestingly, this channel is also available to Sooka TV subscribers and NJOI's Kids Pack subscribers. We expect this channel to be a hit among children.
Speaking of children, Astro aims to provide a safer entertainment experience with the new Kids-Friendly feature. Kids won’t be able to switch to adult profiles because it is protected by a 4-digit PIN. On top of that, parents can now monitor content that their children can watch on Astro. This is a welcomed addition as it provides a worry-free experience for parents. Euan Smith, the CEO of Astro said:
“As a responsible broadcaster, we are cognizant that we must provide a safer entertainment experience with the Kids Friendly feature. The Kids Friendly Profile provides a safe and enjoyable space for children to discover and indulge in their favourite programmes while giving parents peace of mind. It is available on the Astro Ultra and Ulti Box, Astro GO and the Multiroom Smart TV app; and ensures that any user of the Kids Friendly Profile can only access shows that are suitable for children. This includes exclusive On Demand content, linear channels, programme recordings and search results.”
