Astro continues to actively combat online piracy throughout the 2026 financial year (FY26), in line with joint efforts with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and other industry partners, to encourage Malaysians to access content through legal and secure platforms.

Astro has taken down a lot of listings promoting illegal streaming devices

According to Astro, the company has removed over 1.1 million illegal links, including 1667 Telegram groups with a total of 63.9 million members. On the e-commerce platform, 28700 listings promoting illegal streaming devices (ISDs) and pirated apps were also removed.

Additionally, for commercial enforcement, the company managed to secure RM649000 in legal compensation and subscription recovery from 15 cases at commercial premises. Apart from that, Astro is also active in raising public awareness, including through participation in Safer Internet Day 2026, to highlight the risks associated with illegal streaming, such as malware, phishing and data theft.

In other developments, the company recorded nearly 20 billion views across television, radio, streaming and digital platforms throughout 2025. Local and vernacular content accounted for 81% of total views, up 2% from the previous year.
