Great news for video editors! Google has integrated auto-generated captions on Google Drive and it's now live. The update is rolling out globally as we speak so if you don't see it, here's what you can do with the new function on Google Drive.

To access auto-generated captions, you just have to visit one of your videos stored in Google Drive. Simply right-click on one of the videos, go to file information, and then click on Manage Caption Tracks. After that, you will be brought to a new page where you can add new caption tracks or generate automatic captions.

If you ask to generate automatic captions, it may take a while for Google but when it's done, you can either edit, download or remove them.  According to sources, it took 10 minutes to come up with a transcription for a 6-minute video. It's quite slow but since this just launched, Google will optimise the auto-generating captions faster in the future.

Auto-generated captions can be saved in a .vtt file or whichever format you wish. With that, this saves a ton of work time, especially for Malaysian YouTubers who rely on subtitles for their videos.
