Today, BMW Group Malaysia has unveiled two new fully electric models. Headlining the announcement is the all-new BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro, which becomes the first fully electric BMW model to be locally assembled in Malaysia and across the Asia-Pacific region. Joining it is the all-new BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport, a long-wheelbase variant that expands BMW’s compact electric SUV offering.
The BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro
Kicking off with the Pro variant, it introduces BMW’s latest fifth-generation eDrive technology, delivering a WLTP-rated electric range of up to 627 km. Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing 250 kW and 430 Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 6 seconds and a top speed of 193 km/h.

Advanced efficiency gains come from silicon carbide power electronics, adaptive recuperation, and an intelligent heat pump system that manages the cabin, drivetrain, and high-voltage battery. Charging supports up to 22 kW AC for a full charge in just over four hours, while DC fast charging up to 205 kW allows a 10 to 80% charge in 34 minutes.
Visually, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro blends proportions with sport-focused details such as the illuminated Iconic Glow kidney grille, Adaptive LED headlights, Shadowline accents, and 20-inch M Aerodynamic wheels. Inside, the cabin is anchored by the BMW Curved Display, combining a 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen, alongside the BMW Interaction Bar that integrates lighting and touch-sensitive controls.

Premium materials, Merino leather upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, four-zone climate control, and a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system reinforce the executive character. Driver assistance is equally comprehensive, with Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus fitted as standard.
The BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport
Alongside the i5, BMW Group Malaysia introduced the long-wheelbase BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport, which adds 110 mm to the wheelbase and significantly improves rear passenger comfort. The electric SAV features a redesigned enclosed grille with Shadowline trim, 19-inch M wheels, and distinctive LED lighting signatures.

Inside, the longer wheelbase translates into notable gains in legroom and kneeroom, complemented by a panoramic skyroof and upgraded seating comfort. The BMW Curved Display runs BMW Operating System 9, delivering a more intuitive digital experience, while standard safety and assistance features include Driving Assistance Plus and Parking Assistant Plus, delivering a comprehensive suite designed for urban and long-distance driving alike.
The BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport is powered by a front-mounted electrically excited synchronous motor producing 150 kW and 250 Nm of torque. It completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 8.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 175 km/h. Its 66.5 kWh battery provides up to 433 km of WLTP-rated range, with charging supported at up to 11 kW AC and 130 kW DC fast charging.
