We've seen electronics brands like Xiaomi going into the automotive industry, but did you know the opposite is also a thing? Most makers use third-party Android tablets or Apple's iPads for their vehicles. However, BYD has decided to make an in-house tablet for its next SUV.
New tablet for the Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand
In an official Weibo post, BYD announced a "full-stack self-developed" tablet. This means the tablet is designed and manufactured by BYD, instead of a third-party brand like Xiaomi or Apple. The tablet was built for the upcoming Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 SUV, which belongs to BYD's Fang Cheng Bao sub-brand.
The tablet's details were not disclosed, but it allegedly enables "multi-screen collaboration". As for the operating system, it will likely be based on Android or Huawei's HarmonyOS, as those are the only OS with open source options.
Q4 2025 launch
While the details are sparse, sources confirm that the Fang Cheng Bao Tai 7 will go on sale in Q4 2025. If the tablet is important enough, we can expect specs and features to be revealed ahead of the launch. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more updates.
