Beko PowerClean Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Review - A powerful cordless stick vacuum that bends?

Beko is a brand that's known for its home appliances like washing machines and other large home appliances. The company has always been working on household products with a European flair. Recently, they have begun targeting the small appliances market. What we have for review this time is their latest PowerClean Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner VRT94929VI. With a price tag of RM1899, is it worth buying? Find out in our review below.

When we first got it out of the box and assembled it, the appliance felt solid and tough. The whole body came with a mix of black and grey with some neon touches on the sides, buttons, and brushes. Attachments and accessories were easily clicked into place firmly. Releasing the accessories was also quite simple - just press the release button lightly.

This is what we get out of the box

What differentiates this from other cordless stick vacuum cleaners is the bendable wand. It can rotate by up to 90-degrees, a unique feature that allows it to easily bend down to reach under the furniture with tight clearance. It also has a one-floor cleaning head with LED lights for you to see in dark corners or under your furniture. There were also accessories included, such as an electrical turbo brush (for carpets), a soft roller (for hard floors), and a crevice.

Easy to see where you're cleaning in dark spaces

At 2.8kg, the Beko PowerClean Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner VRT94929VI is quite heavy to use one-handed (my hand felt sore within 25 minutes). That's because it has a huge 450W motor. But still, it's pretty convenient to manoeuvre around with it on the floor. There's no LCD display, but it has a light indicator to show the battery and the suction power.

At 2.8kg, it's kinda heavy to move up and down with it

The vacuum cleaner offers 165W of suction with three power levels. Its controls were quite straightforward with the physical buttons on top. There's a power button for turning the device on and off, plus "+" and "-" buttons for the suction power controls. Using it to clean was really fun and easy despite its weight and bulkiness.

Moreover, its suction power impressed us. It could collect even fine dust and small particles in one slow sweep with the lowest power setting. Even for carpets, you just have to switch to medium suction power, and you'll feel the strong suction when you sweep through with it. But if you want to use the turbo mode, make sure your muscles are strong enough to push it through the carpets.

A unique design feature that we found practical is the flexible wand. My house has lots of furniture with low clearings like under the table or beds, so the 90-degree bend really allows the roller to easily slide in. Also, the five LED headlights helped us clearly see where we were cleaning under the dark corners.

But one thing we found hard to use was the handheld mode, as the 2.8kg weight really stresses out your hand muscles to move high up to clean the fans or ceiling corners. The finger rest on the handle also makes your hand feel uncomfortable when you're fighting the gravity with it.

Emptying the 0.9L dust tray was quite easy with just a click of the release button. The vacuum filters are easy to dismantle for washing and drying (in 24 hours as recommended). But the roller head is trickier to clean. That's because its rolling mechanism tends to cause long hair to get picked up, and it's not easy to pull them out from the brushes.

Easy release of Dust Bin

According to Beko, the battery can last up to 45 minutes on a full charge. That's if you're only using it on the lowest power settings. But if you're constantly using it with the Turbo Power Mode, it can only last around 15 minutes. If you switch between suction modes, it can last for about 25 minutes. The vacuum cleaner has a removable battery, but Beko's website doesn't seem to offer battery replacements for purchase. Also, it only can be charged by the floor stand, which is bulky.

Overall, you can consider the Beko PowerClean Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner VRT94929VI a powerful cordless stick vacuum cleaner. One with a unique flexible wand to clean through lower clearings of furniture. I liked its suction power and flexibility, but it's crucial to know who you're buying this for. If you're planning to buy this for your lady to ease her chores, it won't be a good idea due to the weight.

At RM1899, it's considered not too pricey if you look at the whole package. However, the weight and bulky design are definite concerns. Also, there are lighter and more affordable models out there like the Xiaomi or realme cordless vacuum cleaners.
