Have you noticed that new condos are becoming more common in the Klang Valley? As these buildings are finished, we could see a higher number of people moving in. And when you move, you might want to get a broadband plan. Well, we have just the thing for you. Here is our July 2023 list of the best value broadband plans for those on a budget.
Best broadband options under RM100
You may not have noticed this before, but broadband companies don't normally provide extensive promos or offers. That's the case for July 2023, which isn't getting any new promos for home broadband plans. However, a new player called Allo has entered the local broadband space.
So, what does Allo offer? Well, the new company has a Pakej Rahmah plan that offers 100Mbps for RM69/month. It's an incredible value that comes with some caveats. First, it's only available to a select group of Malaysians. Also, it's currently available only in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Johor, Perak and Kedah.
Of course, Allo also has a 100Mbps plan for RM99/month. And for the first 12 months, you'll get it for RM89/month. Its value is close to the TIME Fibre Home 100Mbps plan, which offers slightly better benefits.
Besides Allo, our suggestions from last month's listing remain the same. Those interested in the CelcomDigi Fibre plans can still get it now for the TV or Sony PS5 bundle deals. If you sign up for selected Celcom/Digi postpaid plans, you can get the 300Mbps plan for RM75/month. Although the rebate is just for 6 months, it's still lots of savings.
Don't have CelcomDigi coverage or live in a high-rise building (condo or service apartment)? Then the TIME Fibre Home 100Mbps is probably the option you should choose. If you don't have access to either, the Unifi Home 30Mbps and Astro Fibre 50Mbps are good alternatives.
- Allo Pakej Rahmah 100Mbps (RM69/month) - Optical Network Unit (ONU) provided, free WiFi router
- Allo 100Mbps (RM99/month) - Optical Network Unit (ONU) provided, free WiFi router, RM10 rebate for 12 months

- CelcomDigi Fibre 300Mbps (RM100/month, with Celcom/Digi postpaid plan) - Free WiFi-6 router, free installation, RM75/month for 6 months (without Celcom/Digi postpaid plan), 24-month contract
- Maxis Home Fibre 30Mbps (RM89/month) - Free WiFi-6 router with EasyMesh technology, RM100 Grab e-voucher, 24-month contract
- TIME Fibre Home 100Mbps (RM99/month) - Free WiFi-5 router, first month's bill waived, 24-month contract
- U Home 5G (RM68/month) - 4G/5G speeds (average 23Mbps), SIM-only (no installation required), no contract
- Unifi Home 30Mbps (RM89/month) - Free router, free speed upgrade to 100Mbps for 6 months, free 30-day trial, 24-month contract
- Yes Wireless Fibre 120Mbps (RM99/month) - Free Infinite Gateway 5G router (portable), unlimited 5G data, 150GB 4G data, 24-month contract
Best broadband options under RM200
As for the under RM100/month category, there's nothing much worth noting this month. Unifi's Scratch & Win contest is over, and none of the other telcos have new promos. But with Allo now joining the gang, there's a new 300Mbps plan for RM129/month in this category. It even offers a rebate of RM30 for the first 12 months, so it's not a bad deal.
If you don't have coverage for Allo, stick to TIME's bestseller - the TIME Fibre Home 500Mbps plan, as it's the best option if you want faster speeds at an affordable rate. Of course, it's best only if you live in a high-rise building and have coverage. If you don't, go for Unifi or Maxis' 300Mbps plans.

As you can see, asides from Allo nothing else was exciting for broadband plans in July 2023. If you want a new TV or Sony PS5, CelcomDigi Fibre could be a good choice. But besides that, just have a look at the ones with coverage in your area.
