Do you have a Twitter account that you’ve not been using for a while? If you would still like to keep your account alive, you should probably sign in now. Twitter has announced they will be deleting accounts that have not stayed active for at least 6 months.

Twitter claims that removing accounts would be an effort to present more accurate and credible information on the widely-used social media platform. This could also be a benefit for those who have been longing for a username that is used by someone else. Later on, you could try to input that prestigious username of yours sometimes during December to see if it’s available.

For those who can’t use their accounts anymore such as the deceased (apparently), Twitter might have a special way to memorialize their accounts, even though there is no news on how it is going to be done yet. It would be a shame for them to lose their Twitter accounts, considering all the posts that would get deleted too.

The purge will happen right after 11 December 2019 and carry on for months. Also, by staying active doesn’t mean you have to post any tweet to keep the account alive, just by logging in and you’ll be fine.
