Black Shark to launch new mobile cooler on 15 May 2023

When playing high-end mobile games, some phones can become hot enough to feel extremely uncomfortable. External coolers can help cool the back of the phone, and some work quite well. So if you want one, you might want to see the new one Black Shark has in store for us tomorrow.

Yesterday, Black Shark announced that it will be releasing a new mobile cooler on 15 May 2023. The cooler is expected to feature a customised "ultra high-density cooling chip", which helps it reduce surface temperature by (or more likely 'to') 35°C. It will also prevent the "power utilisation" from running out of control. This probably means that it would be more effective at preventing thermal throttling of the chipset.

Of course, there's one thing to take note of. Since the announcement post doesn't mention what phone was used, we can only assume it's an in-house model. Our best guess is the Black Shark 5 Pro, which features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In a game like Genshin Impact, phones with this chipset tend to have a back surface temperature of 41 to 46 degrees Celsius (as shown via MyDrivers). If that's the case, Black Shark's new cooler would reduce surface temps by around 10°C. Pretty effective, to be honest.

Having said that, some people buy these accessories just for the cool factor (get it?) But are they worth getting? In our opinion, it depends on how much you game on a smartphone. What say you?
