BlackBerry Motion revealed with 4000mAh and IP67 rating for ~RM1918

During the weekend, the BlackBerry Motion was leaked online showing that it could be the company's first KEYone series to remove the physical keyboard. But it's now official, the BlackBerry Motion was recently revealed in Dubai and not only the physical keyboard is gone, but it's also the first to pack the largest battery (4000mAh) and an IP67 water and dust resistant rating. Below is official tech-specs:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, octa-core CPU and Adreno 506 GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB storage (expandable memory not specified)
  • 5.5-inch Premium Anti-Scratch screen in 1080p
  • 12MP rear camera (f/2.0) | 8MP front camera
  • Features IP67 water and dust resistant, Fingerprint sensor, Quick Charge 3.0
  • Supports LTE Cat.9, WiFi, Bluetooth connectivity
  • Android 7.1 Nougat
  • 4000 mAh battery

So is there anything special about the phone? Well, it has a Quick Charge 3.0 which can charge up to 50% in just 40 minutes (not bad lah). The fingerprint scanner stays on the new home button design and the OS is upgradable to Android 8.0 Oreo next year.

Plus, like all BlackBerry smartphones, the Motion device has some security features too such as the Locker. The Locker offers users to store their document and photos inside the internal storage with a PIN code or fingerprint lock. There's also a Convenience Key that works more than a shortcut key because it allows users to actually customize four different profile pages for Home, Car, Office and User.

So what of its availability and price? For now, it's only available in UAE and Saudi Arabia, followed by selected global markets in the coming weeks. The price in UAE is Dh 1699 (~RM1958) while Saudi Arabia is slated for 1699 Riyal (~RM1918).
