BlackBerry devices have always been at a premium price, which could explain why they don't sell very well, especially for the midrange user. The newly released BlackBerry Q5 changes all that by not only offering a midrange device but also offering it at a retail price of RM1299. At this pricing, it is just a little bit more than the Samsung Galaxy Grand but do the tech specs match up as well? Check out the tech specs for the BlackBerry Q5 below:

  • 3.1-inch LCD display (720x720, IPS, 328ppi)
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 5MP rear camera (1080p) + 2MP front camera (720p)
  • 8GB storage expandable up to 32GB
  • Supports NFC + LTE
  • 2180 mAh battery
  • red, white, black

While it maintains BlackBerry's iconic full QWERTY keyboard (which feels as good as before), it's plastic-like build and 1.2GHz dual-core processor makes it feel a bit less premium than it's other BlackBerry siblings. It does offer a good number of premium features though like LTE, 2GB of RAM and rather large 2180 mAh battery. There are a lot of other much more affordable full QWERTY devices on the market, but many of them don't offer these features, much less an IPS display. The lack of apps does make it a bit harder to use but it has been proven that the Q5 can even handle racing games without any issues. The Telcos will offer the BlackBerry Q5 on 15 July 2013 at the aforementioned RM1299 price (or probably lower). Check out the BlackBerry Q5 videos below:
