If you enjoy scrolling through images on Instagram but don't care for the app's other features, here's an alternative you can consider. Social media company Bluesky has unveiled its own version of Instagram, and it's as clean as they come.

Dubbed Flashes for Bluesky (or just 'Flashes'), the app is Bluesky's photo and video app, now available via the Apple App Store. According to the intro, Flashes helps you discover and share photos and videos on Bluesky. The app also promises photo filters, individual portfolios, voice-over support, and more. Based on screenshots and the app description, Flashes directly links to Bluesky and is only intended for users who want to browse photos and videos.

With that being the case, Flashes doesn't have many of Instagram's key features. For example, DMs and Stories. In that sense, Flashes can be considered a vanilla version of Instagram. On one hand, it could make it an appealing alternative for people who don't use Instagram's additional features. However, those who do frequently use them might find this app inconvenient.

The way we see it, Flashes won't find it easy to challenge Instagram's dominance. Many content creators and influencers have large audiences on the platform, and making them switch to the less popular Bluesky-based platform would be a tough ask. But what do you think?
