When it comes to e-hailing rides in Malaysia, most people would think of Grab and AirAsia. However, there may be another player coming into the industry. A company called Bolt just posted a job post on LinkedIn two weeks ago, looking for a country manager position.

According to the job listing page, Bolt is looking for someone in Malaysia to lead and launch its e-hailing ride business here. As such, the role will also work closely with regulators, government officials, and local communities, as well as with the local operations team, Regional manager, and HQ teams.

For those unaware, it is reported that Bolt is one of the fastest-growing tech companies in Europe and Africa. Currently, the company has over 100 million customers in over 45 countries with a global team all around the world. It was founded by Estonian Markus Vilig in 2013.

In the Asian region, Bolt is also popular in Bangkok, Thailand. The company has several offers such as Bolt Rides for ride-sharing and Bolt Business for delivering services, as well as launching a few new features with driver selfie verification, trip safety monitoring, ride journey status sharing and an SOS button.

At the moment, there's no confirmation of when Bolt will launch in Malaysia. We will just have to wait and see.
