Each year, MediaTek and Qualcomm are both racing against time to work on their next-gen flagship smartphone chipset. Both companies have been working on the two upcoming chipsets which are named Dimensity 2000 and Snapdragon 898 which have had multiple leaks recently. Today, a source has revealed that the two chipsets will employ the same ARM architecture.

According to the leakster Digital Chat Station, both Dimensity 2000 and Snapdragon 898 will be using the new V9-based Cortex CPUs. The Dimensity 2000 will have one Cortex X2 super core clocked at 3.0GHz, three Cortex A710 mid-cores clocked at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex A510 power-efficient CPU cores at 1.8GHz while the Snapdragon 898 is reported to have the same Cortex X2 Super core and Cortex A510 low-performance core but only with a maximum  frequency of 2.6GHz in middle cores.

Although that shouldn’t affect much in the overall performance, the key factor for it may be on the manufacturing process which Qualcomm is working with Samsung for manufacturing the Snapdragon 898, its reputation does not meet the expectation when it comes to power efficiency and thermal management unlike TSMC.

As of now, there’s still no official confirmation on the official release date for yet, so do take this with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more tech news updates on TechNave.com
