Brazil and Apple haven’t been getting along recently as the country’s regulators are not too pleased with the latter’s decision to not include power adapters with the iPhone. After being fined ~RM89 million, Apple still failed to comply with Brazil’s requirement and now, the nation’s Federal District-based consumer protection regulator has seized iPhones from retail stores in the country.

According to 9to5Mac, Brazilian regulators have seized “hundreds of iPhones in different retail stores” in the country through an action called “Operation Discharge”. These include carrier stores and authorised Apple resellers.

It is hoped that the operation can compel Apple to comply with the local laws that require smartphones to be shipped with a charger. After the iPhones were seized, Apple Brazil requested the government to allow sales of iPhones in the country until the final decision of the dispute with Brazil’s Ministry of Justice is concluded.
