According to Reuters, ByteDance has now discussed and begun designing its own AI processing chips to accelerate inference and enable its agentic AI systems to operate more quickly and efficiently. That said, what should you know about it?

ByteDance might source its processing chips from AMD and Intel

For your information, ByteDance is seen sourcing its processing chips from companies like AMD and Intel, with Intel saying that the wait time for its CPUs will increase to six months, especially for customers in China. AMD also said that the supply of CPU components for AI processing purposes is getting tighter due to high demand.

Moreover, ByteDance has introduced AI video generation technology SeeDance, and is expected to introduce more AI technology to their other services, so starting out and producing their own processing chips is something they need to start now, so they don't face component problems in the future.

In addition, Reuters said that for now, these chips are still in the design phase, and at this time it is still unknown who ByteDance's partners are in them and producing these ByteDance-specific processing chips.
