When it comes to new trends, handheld gaming PCs could become more common in 2025. We've seen a few models in recent years, with Lenovo one of the first to join this particular bandwagon. At CES 2025, the company announced a few new models to its Legion Go series.
First, we have the new Lenovo Legion Go S. This is an 8-inch handheld gaming PC with two variants. The first is a Windows 11 device that can be used as a Windows PC or for gaming. As for the other, it's a pure portable console gaming device powered by SteamOS.
White - Windows variant
Black - SteamOS variant
Both variants have an 8-inch WUXGA 16:10 120Hz LCD, AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, integrated AMD Radeon 700M GPU, and up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM (6400MHz). They also have up to 1TB of storage with a swappable PCIe SSD, two 2W speakers, a 55.5Wh battery, a microSD card reader, and more.
The other gaming handheld PC that Lenovo showcased at CES 2025 is a 2nd-generation prototype of the Lenovo Legion Go. This one sports a new AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, RDNA 3.5 graphics, and up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM (7500MHz). Its display is an 8.8-inch OLED PureSight touch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, plus Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for stunning visuals and smooth gameplay. With a 74Whr battery (vs its predecessor's 49.2Whr) and the upgrade in processor, the 2nd-gen Legion Go S should have a much longer battery life.
Lenovo hasn't announced the price for the new Legion Go. However, the SteamOS-powered Legion Go S is expected to retail for a relatively affordable USD500 (~RM2249). On the other hand, the Windows variant will cost more at USD730 (~RM3283). For more specs, check the announcement here.
Update: It has been confirmed that the Lenovo Legion Go S will have a starting price of RM3299 in Malaysia. It's likely that this is the price for the SteamOS variant. Still no local launch date, but Lenovo has announced that it will be available starting February 2025.
