The guys over at XDA-Developers.com has managed to get Google’s Android operating system running on a Nintendo Switch. Using a bunch of software such as the Linux 5 Tegra Ubuntu developed by ByLaws, as well as the emuMMC for the Switch. The handheld console was able to boot into the Android Operating system directly off an SD card, without the need to perform any sort of installation.

The Nintendo Switch was able to run the Android OS in a fashion similar to that of an average Android Tablet. Not only that, but it is also able to access the Google Play Store which allows the user to install various applications as well. They have installed PUBG Mobile on the Switch, which worked flawlessly minus the inability to connect the Joycons. In addition to that, the Nintendo DS emulator was also installed to test out older Nintendo games such as Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Pokemon Leaf Green, and more.

Playing a Nintendo game, in a Nintendo Emulator, in an Android Emulator, in a Switch. Woah.

As expected, the games ran without a hitch due to the fact that the Switch comes equipped with the gaming-focused Tegra X1 chipset that was manufactured by Nvidia. Not only that, but it also comes with 4GB of Low-power DDR4 RAM, 6.2-inch HD display and a 4310mAh non-removable battery. That being said, the software developed to get Android running on the Switch is nowhere close to perfect and the developers plan to further improve the software before they release it to the public.

The Nintendo Switch can be bought in Malaysia from Shopee from as low as RM1149. Will you be keen on installing Google’s Android operating system on the Nintendo Switch? Let us know on our Facebook Page and for more updates like this stay tuned to TechNave.com.
