Prior to this news, we expected the Nothing Phone (2) to equip the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset but turns out that's not the case. Carl Pei, the CEO of Nothing just tweeted that the phone will indeed get the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset instead.
It seems like a weird decision but in his tweet, he continued highlighting the benefits of having a year-old Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. Compared with the Nothing Phone (1), the performance is twice as fast with an 80% overall improvement, as well as other improvements for the battery life, network connectivity and camera capabilities (confirmed to capture Raw HDR and 4K video recording at 60FPS).
There has been a lot of discussion ever since we announced that Phone (2) will have a Snapdragon 8 Series chipset. Well here's some news - it’s going to be the premium-tier powerhouse Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. A clear upgrade from Phone (1). Let’s talk about the key differences pic.twitter.com/l5NwCxDAVa

Pei argued it's all "about the complete package" and it's not about the specs race which other Android are quite obsessed with. He said the team is prioritising user experience which is a fair point. It may have something to do with the price to make it affordable for customers as well so that it can be "justified from a user benefit standpoint".
Well, if the Nothing Phone (2) can give us a smooth and good user experience, I think most customers won't mind at all because good software tends to last long. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more trending tech news a TechNave.com.
