Celcom Q1 financial report shows promising growth despite challenging market, data revenue up 29.8% year-on-year

Despite a rather challenging Malaysian market, Celcom Axiata Berhad have announced their Q1 financial report as largely positive with a rising data revenue of 29.8% year-on-year to RM661 million for a total revenue of RM1.609 billion and service revenue of RM1.475 billion.

The company reports increased data traffic with positive response to their enhanced postpaid offerings like Celcom FIRST Gold 80 and Celcom FIRST Platinum. Despite a decrease in subscribers from 10.5 million to 10.2 million, Celcom will aim to introduce more initiatives like their Accelerated Cost Efficiency programme, distribution and trade reforms and testing 700 Mbps throughput by mid 2018 or LTE Advanced Pro at 1 Gbps throughput by mid 2019.
