As local telcos begin pushing out 5G services, it turns out that it's not as simple as we thought. Like U Mobile prepaid users, Celcom Xpax users will be limited to using 5G connectivity in 2023. What do we mean? Well, read on below.
According to Celcom's FAQ for Xpax 5G users, all news and existing Xpax customers need to subscribe to the selected Mix and Match plan. Alongside a 5G compatible device within a 5G coverage site, the 5G service is only free until the 31st of December 2022. Until the said date, the monthly 5G service charge of RM10 will be deducted from your credit.
Also in the FAQ, Xpax subscribers won't be able to unsubscribe from the 5G service. However, the 5G service will still be expired until the Mix and Match pass expires, so you can't pull out in the middle of the period. As a reminder, the Mix and Match service is a one-time pass without any auto-renewal function.
