CelcomDigi and Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) Sdn Bhd have collaborated to improve digital security in financial transactions. This new initiative uses SIM-based authentication for DuitNow transactions to combat online fraud. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, CelcomDigi uses CelcomDigi Open Gateway, which utilizes Open Application Programming Interface (API) integration to enable PayNet to authorise DuitNow transactions via SIM-based authentication. This security measure ensures that the mobile phone number linked to the DuitNow account is active and belongs to the registered user. It can also provide a more secure alternative to traditional OTP-based authentication, thereby reducing the risk of fraud.
This collaboration also involves financial institutions and the National Fraud Response Center (NSRC) through the National Fraud Portal (NFP). By sharing fraud information, CelcomDigi can take appropriate action to identify, block and blacklist phone numbers associated with fraud. It is also understood that CelcomDigi Open Gateway is part of the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. With this API capability, telecommunications companies can enable other developers to create shared services seamlessly and improve digital security, such as fraud detection, etc.
