According to the latest IPSOS report, 76% of Malaysians have encountered and been targeted by scams at one point in their lives; records from the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) reported that over RM1.34 billion was lost to scammers in 2023. To counter this, CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) is launching a Scam Awareness Survey. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, the survey is happening today 6 February 2024. This is done in conjunction with Safer Internet Day. The survey is also held in collaboration with 307 internet centres known as Pusat Ekonomi Digital (PEDi) managed by CelcomDigi. The objective of this campaign is to collect 10,000 responses from Malaysians aged 18 and above.

Apart from this survey, CelcomDigi has been active in promoting a safer internet experience for all Malaysians. That includes the Jelajah Anti-Scam Kebangsaan roadshow in 2023, conducting a series of SAFE @Schools digital safety talks and creating a one-stop SAFE Internet educational resource page for the public to easily access and download digital safety materials.

Hopefully, other government bodies, NGOs and Telcos will follow suit in combatting scams. After all, it is a significant issue to deal with. We at TechNave advise you to be more wary and careful unknown calls, texts, emails and so forth. Better to be safe than sorry!
