Recently, CelcomDigi announced a collaboration with several key Malaysian industry partners to pioneer the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) based smart traffic solution. So, what should you know about it?

Damansara will be the first location

For your information, the initiative was launched in conjunction with the Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur 2025 and witnessed by the Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo.

Moreover, this pilot project is being implemented in collaboration with MyDigital Corporation (MyDigital), Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) and Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Furthermore, the Damansara area was chosen as the initial location covering PJ Sentral, SS2 and along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP).

Through intelligent neural network technology and real-time data analytics combined with 5G networks, this system will:

  • Dynamically manage traffic light cycles to reduce congestion.
  • Provide traffic diversion guidance during peak hours, road works or emergencies.
  • Offers useful insights to city authorities for better infrastructure planning.

CelcomDigi says the solution is expected to shorten travel times, improve road safety and support the development of smart cities in Malaysia
