In addition, the signing was witnessed by Selangor Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari. CelcomDigi was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Idham Nawawi, while MPAJ’s Chairman Dr Ani binti Ahmad signed on behalf of the Municipal Council. Dato’ Seri Amirudin said:

“I am happy to witness today’s MoU Signing Ceremony between MPAJ and CelcomDigi. The ceremony proves MPAJ's determination to form a smart city, in line with the State Government's desire to transform Selangor into a Smart State by 2025. It is my utmost hope that the efforts to be implemented under the Smart City initiative will result in a positive impact on the ecosystem in an inclusive manner, not only to the society but also to the economy and the environment.”

Moreover, this collaboration is in support of MPAJ's "Smart City Framework" a visionary plan developed in January 2022. The plan aims to transform Ampang Jaya into a smart city with a focus on Smart Infrastructure, Smart Economy, Smart Community, Smart Environment, and Smart Governance. That means CelcomDigi will spearhead a sandbox that brings together an ecosystem of interested parties with smart city solutions.

Hopefully, things will go smoothly for this project. After all, Hulu Kelang residents deserve a better digital ecosystem. Who knows? The success of this project could lead to a larger-scale project for Malaysia.
