SIRIM QAS International (SIRIM), a leading certification, inspection and testing body in Malaysia, has recognised the Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Pack. That is the Lithium Battery used in the Chery EV model offered in the Malaysian market, namely the OMODA E5. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, the OMODA E5 is the only EV from Chery currently offered in Malaysia and is powered by a 61kWh high-capacity lithium-iron phosphate blade battery. It is capable of delivering performance of up to 201hp and 340Nm of torque while providing a range of 430km based on the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

In addition, the EV battery has undergone rigorous testing in China according to UN R100 standards to ensure compliance with international safety and performance standards for reliability, efficiency and durability. Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia said:

"Being the first automotive brand in Malaysia to receive EV battery certification is a tremendous honour and a significant achievement for us at Chery Malaysia. We are proud to lead in advancing the electric vehicle industry with our OMODA E5 in Malaysia and contribute to a greener future. We strive to continue to innovate and lead the electric vehicle industry,"

Moreover, Chery Malaysia informed that they are looking forward to obtaining SIRIM certification for the batteries in the upcoming EV line-up to be offered in Malaysia. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly.
