This new phone is certainly unconventional compared to modern phones nowadays. Called the Clicks Communicator, it is designed and developed by Clicks as a communication-focused smartphone built for people who want to stay connected without distraction.

The company describes the product as a purpose-built phone for messaging, email, and essential digital tasks rather than endless social feeds or entertainment. The launch page highlights the Communicator as a tool for doing, not doomscrolling, and invites early reservations with promotional pricing options available now.

Clicks Communicator Features

The Communicator is defined by its integrated physical QWERTY keyboard and compact 4.03-inch touch display. Clicks emphasises tactile typing with ergonomically designed keys and a touch-sensitive keyboard that allows users to scroll through messages and lists without always relying on the touchscreen. A side key on the device serves multiple functions, including triggering voice-to-text transcription and quick voice recordings.

The Communicator also includes a customisable Signal LED that can light up in different colours to indicate notifications from specific contacts or apps. Additionally, the device integrates a physical kill switch and ergonomic elements to make it comfortable to hold and use throughout the day.

Unlike accessory products, the Communicator runs Android 16, supports full 5G connectivity, and functions as a completely standalone smartphone. Users can install apps and take advantage of global 5G, 4G LTE, 3G and 2G network support on unlocked bands. The FAQ from the official site confirms it can serve either as a primary device or a companion to a more feature-rich flagship phone, giving people flexibility in how they adopt it.

Since this phone doesn't have any entertainment software, it doesn't need a lot of power. It is powered by a Unihertz Titan chipset, alongside a 4000mAh battery, a 50MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation and a 24MP front camera, NFC with Google Pay support, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Storage starts at 256GB on-board and can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. Physical and eSIM support adds network flexibility for users in multiple regions.

Early Bird Pricing and Reservation Program

The Communicator is priced at $499 (~RM2K), but Clicks has opened reservations ahead of general availability later this year. Early adopters can lock in a special $199 price (~RM800) through a refundable deposit or full payment, with options to receive bonus back covers along with priority access to purchase their Communicator units. The device is offered in multiple finishes and aims to appeal to those wanting a more intentional approach to smartphone use.

Industry reporting has already dubbed the Communicator as a modern take on classic messaging-centric phones, drawing comparisons to legacy devices that prioritised typing and communication, instead of being distracted by most modern phones.
