We have great news for WhatsApp users who value their privacy. Recently, WhatsApp introduced a new privacy feature, which prevents strangers in a community group from seeing your number.
WABetaInfo claimed that the new feature is available in the latest WhatsApp update. As of now, this feature is being rolled out to both iOS and Android users. How does this feature help with your privacy? With the amount of scam calls and annoyying telemarketers going on now, this would be very helpful in keeping them away.
Previously, your phone number is hidden under the community announcement group. However, you risk exposing your phone number by interacting with a message. This feature is introduced to address this issue. You can activate this feature through the group’s settings, then choose the “Phone number privacy” tab below encryption.

Please remember that even when this feature is active, community group admins and those who have already saved your number can still see it. If you are a community group admin, your number can also be seen by everyone. For now, this feature is only available for community groups. But we can expect WhatsApp to extend this feature to other groups in the app.
Are you happy about this update? Or are you one of the community group admins? Stay tuned for more news like this at TechNave!
