Company behind Palworld responds to Nintendo's lawsuit

Yesterday, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company filed a lawsuit against, Pocketpair, the makers of Palworld. The lawsuit letter was published on Nintendo's website, claiming Pocketpair of "patent infringement" (from Pokemon, obviously) on its Palworld game.

We thought it would take some time for Pocketpair to respond but the company finally did. It looks like the battle is on, as Pocketpair will begin the appropriate legal proceedings and investigations into the claims of patent infringement. The company also said they were "unaware of the specific patents (they) are accused of infringing upon", and they haven't been notified of such details.

Pocketpair also apologized to the Palworld fans and supports that due to the lawsuit, the company is forced to allocate much of its time to it. Although the company does not sound like it's looking forward, it will fight to appeal "that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas".

For those who don't know, Pocketpair is an indie game company in Tokyo, Japan. Palworld was just released earlier this year and became a sensational hit for the company and gamers. At the end of January 2024, it had over 2 million players and ranked the 10th most played game on Steam in history.
