Germany plans on taking full advantage of the iOS 13 by allowing users to store their ID cards(IC cards for Malaysian), on their iOS device which allows the user to perform various authentication process without the need to pull out their wallets. This is similar to how debit/credit cards can be stored on a smartphone, which then can be used to perform various transactions.

Similar to how debit/credit cards will require apps like Samsung Pay and Apple Pay to function, the German government will be releasing the AusweisApp2 to provide several functions to the ID cards needed for authentication.

Now here’s the big question, will we be able to see a similar system like this in Malaysia? The short answer is yes. But if you take a look at the bigger picture, deploying these kinds of system takes a very long time as well as a lot of effort.

It’ll be interesting to see this in Malaysia, due to the fact that it will be much more convenient to take out our phone to authenticate our identity than to dig through our card-filled wallet for our identification cards. Let us know on our Facebook page if you are interested in seeing a similar system deployed here, and for more updates like this stay tuned to TechNave.com.
