Counterpoint Research recently revealed a rise of 8.1% year-on-year due to the end of support for Microsoft Windows 10. The main winners included ASUS, Apple and Lenovo, showing that while many may have bought new Windows 11 machines, quite a few more migrated to Apple's iOS.
Triggering what appears to be an industry-wide replacement or refresh cycle for older machines, ASUS achieved 14% while Lenovo saw a rise of 17%. Apple got 15% and HP managed 10%. Only Dell saw a decrease but this was just at 1% while other brands saw a decrease of 3%.
More growth to come... and rise of the AI PC?

While Counterpoint analysts do agree that this happened mostly due to the OS migration and upgrade, they are projecting more growth for Q3 2025. They say it's because of new tech like Qualcomm's Elite X2 chipset, Intel's Panther Lake and NVIDIA GPU's along with what appear to be hopeful projections on the rise of the AI PC. They say that that will happen in 2026.
We have to say that that's a bit of a stretch, but what do you think? A forced OS upgrade or the rise of AI PCs? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
