Cybercriminals are using 'Coronavirus Maps' to steal sensitive information

Based on a statement by thehackernews.com, it seems that cybercriminals are utilizing a ‘coronavirus map’ to steal sensitive information such as passwords from any unsuspecting victims. The method in which they acquire such information is by tricking the users to download a software which is embedded with a malware called AZORult, which collects information from web browsers such as cookies, user ID, passwords and more.

With all that said, you should always make sure that any software that you’re download derived from a trustworthy source. Furthermore, one of the biggest red flag when downloading a document, image or video file is when the file extension ends in a “.exe” (such as corona-virus-map.com.exe or corona.exe).
