Last weekend, the web version of the Dewan Perdana Dictionary was finally launched on April 10 after undergoing several testing processes by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) since last year. That said, what should you know about it?

A more comprehensive guide for Bahasa Melayu

Through this page, you can view word definitions, examples of usage, pronunciation and Jawi spelling. Each word is now given its own identification number and is displayed in a more organised manner when any search is made. Search results are divided into several groups, namely entry words, derived words and word origins.

Moreover, daily top search statistics will also be displayed to see which word searches are trending. When launched next year, it will be accessible to the public for a limited time only before a subscription fee will be charged. DBP has not yet announced what the fee will be. Finally, DBP also plans to gradually expand the content with other dictionaries.

Additionally, the question that will arise is whether or not, after the launch of the web version of the Kamus Dewan Perdana, the DBP Pusat Rujukan Persuratan Melayu website will continue. It offers the same functionality and also has a free correct word usage query feature.
