DJI has unveiled the Avata Drone and Goggles 2 for a first-person view (FPV) flight. Coupled with the Motion Controller, the drone maker aims to "awaken a desire to fly in everyone, with immersive flight technology that allows anyone to explore the almost out-of-body experience of FPV flight," said Ferdinand Wolf, Creative Director at DJI.

The DJI Avata weighs only 410 grams. It brings a powerful stabilized camera that uses a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor with 48 million effective pixels, delivering premium imaging features like 4K/60fps and 2.7K/50/60/100/120fps video. Besides that, there's the D-Cinelike colour mode that allows a broad colour palette that enables detailed chromatic adjustments. It also has the DJI RockSteady that eliminates overall picture shake, with DJI HorizonSteady keeping the picture oriented toward true level. Other features include the GEO 2.0 geofencing system, AirSense ADS-B receiver system, an Infrared Sensing System, a two-camera Downward Vision System and more.

The drone can last up to 18 minutes each flight. It also comes with different flight modes that even beginners can easily hop on, including Normal Mode, Manual Mode, and Sport Mode for the experienced. The drone is controlled with the DJI Fly app, which offers detailed tutorials on how to operate the drone. New users can also try out the DJI Virtual Flight App to familiarize themselves with drone flying movements.

On the other hand, the DJI Goggles 2 is designed to be paired with the Avata. It's a next-generation video headset that features a clearer Micro-OLED screen with adjustable diopters, so people who wear glasses do not need to use them with the goggles. The DJI Avata and Goggles 2 connect using DJI O3+ transmission for precise control, ultra-low latency, and detailed video at 1080p/100fps with H.265 decoding. The Goggles 2 also supports a Wireless Streaming function to view the live feed from your mobile phone or computer on the goggles screen.
