DJI, the world’s leading civilian drone and aerial imaging technology experts have unveiled their new drone, the Spark, right here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Spark is an easy to use drone that can be launched and entirely controlled from the palm of your hand with specific hand gestures. Even if you have never flown a drone before, you can handle the Spark easily because the only controls you need are your hands.

Spark features a Gesture Mode that allows users to control the Spark with merely hand movements straight after being launched from your hand. This allows users to send the Spark up and away from you to take a selfie, and call it back to you with just a flick of the wrist.
Other than hand gestures, the Spark can be effortlessly controlled and programmed to do incredible motions and flight paths with the new QuickShot Intelligent Flight Mode will send the drone upwards, circle around the user and fly back, all while recording the cool video.

TapFly and ActiveTrack allows you control the Spark with a top of your mobile device while the latter function allows you to track objects by selecting it on your mobile screen. No need to worry about accidently hitting a tree because Spark’s 3D sensing System will actively sense objects in front of it.

A remote controller is also available for the Spark to use its Sport Mode, which will realise the Spark’s speed potential of up to 50km/h. Spark will also be compatible with DJI Goggles so you can have a live, immersive view while piloting the Spark.

As for the camera specs, the Spark houses an impressive camera with a 1/2.3” CMOS sensor that can capture photos of up to 12MP and stabilized HD 1080p videos under normal flight mode. Spark's 2-axis mechanical gimbal and UltraSmooth technology dramatically reduce shake and rolling shutter effect to capture cinematic shots effortlessly. Built-in camera features such as Pano and ShallowFocus allows professional shooting of panoramic style photos and soft background photos, to give you an image with a shallow depth of field.
Don’t worry about the drone flying off while your fly, as all recent DJI drones, the Spark is able to return to its home point automatically with a sufficient GPS signal. If your remote controller lose its connection from a lack of battery or signal, the Spark will automatically flies back to the present home point.
The spark is able to perform for a maximum flight time of up to 16 minutes. Additionally, the Spark can record 720p real-time video transmission from up to 500 m2 away with a remote controller.
