DJI launches two new drones for professionals – the Phantom 4 Pro & Inspire

The company that is well known for their flying camera platform has just announced two new models under their Phantom and Inspire lines, clearly designed for the professionals. The new DJI Phantom 4 Pro and Inspire 2 features high-end camera equipment and features that will make any drone videographer salivate.

The Phantom 4 Pro shares the same design as the Phantom 4 but with added features. It now sports a 1-inch, 20-megapixel CMOS sensor with an aperture value of f/2.8 that boasts 12 stops of dynamic range. The new drone is also capable of 4K video recording at 60fps.To reduce rolling shutter effect, the new drone now features a mechanical shutter, as well as a higher bitrate recording of 100mbps in H.264 coded, and even the ability to record in the newer h.265 codec. Plus, it comes with a longer flight time of 30 minutes when compared to the 27 minutes of the standard Phantom 4.     There is also a new controller for the Phantom 4 Pro that includes a built-in screen with touch-screen controls.

For true professionals, the DJI Inspire 2 is a revamp of the original and successful Inspire One. Instead of microSD for storage, the Inspire 2 now comes with a built-in SSD storage for faster recording time. It also has a longer flying time – 25 minutes compared to the 18 minutes of the original model. Two camera models will be available with the drone - the X4S and the X5S. The new cameras are capable of recording up to 5.2K video at 30fps and 4K up to 60fps. With the X5S camera, users can shoot in either H.264 or H.265, Cinema DNG and Apple ProRes formats.

If you are itching to get one of these babies, you have to wait for a bit. Preorders for the models are up on DJI’s website, with the Phantom 4 Pro having a sticker price of USD 1499 (~RM 6500) without the new controller or USD 1799 (~RM 7800) with. For the Inspire 2, it starts from USD 2999 (~RM 13000) for the drone only, or USD 5000 (~RM 22,000) for the X5 camera and controller. Stay tuned to TechNave for more DJI product news.
