So this just came in, our 8th Prime Minister of Malaysia, PM Muhyiddin has just announced a new Cabinet today. We got a full list of the names and their roles, as well as a new structure for party leaders from the Perikatan Nasional and allies around.
According to the list, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah has been appointed as the Communications and Multimedia Minister, whereas Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin is serving as the deputy role. It was also reported that Khairy Jamaluddin has returned to the Cabinet again, this time as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. Ahmad Amzad Hashim will be his deputy in that department.
For your information, Saifuddin Abdullah was formerly the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Before that, he also served as the Deputy Minister of Higher Education as well as the Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operatives Development. If you're familiar with his political history, he was one of the more moderate and liberal politicians as he used to criticize the government on handlings some aspects.
We aren't sure how his background qualifies him as the Head of Communications and Multimedia, but it will be an interesting new chapter for the media industry. For the full new Cabinet list, you can check the link right here.
