Deleting your Threads account also means deleting your Instagram account

While everyone is exploring how Threads work, some discovered that deleting your Threads account is not that simple. In the Supplemental Privacy Policy section, it is stated that “Your Threads Profile is Part of Your Instagram Account. Therefore, it may be deleted at any time by deleting your Instagram account”.

Obviously, this has made many new Threads users upset. After all, most of them are just trying it out and should they be not active on the platform, they might delete it. So yes, deleting your Instagram account to delete your Threads account is an eye-raising move and this may have something to do with the fact that Threads is part of Instagram.

Regardless, it's still not a cool move at all but according to a Meta spokesperson, the account deletion is something that they are working on. So hopefully, Threads users can leave and delete their accounts without deleting their Instagram accounts altogether.

By the way, you can still temporarily deactivate or take a break from your Threads account. The number of posts and likes will be invisible until you reactivate it back. You may do so in the profile settings and it's quite easy to spot it.
