When it comes to laptops, most can't be repaired by an individual without specific tools. Even for service centres, some models aren't exactly easy to repair, partly because of the design. But Dell seems to be working on making the process easier.
According to Engadget, Dell is partnering with Intel to build a new laptop called Concept Luna. The goal is to make a laptop design that's easier to repair and recycle. Dell claimed that if all its design ideas can be incorporated, it can reduce the carbon footprint for a PC by up to 50%. This is in comparison with existing laptop models and is quite an impressive number.

A redesigned internal hardware and layout for laptops
To achieve this, Concept Luna relied on redesigned components. For example, it reduced the motherboard's size by 75% and the number of components for the motherboard by 20%. It also uses a more efficient layout, with the motherboard exposed to a larger cooling surface area. The charging unit was also separated for better passive cooling, which means there's no need to use a cooling fan for that.
The bottom line is that Concept Luna should make laptop repairs easier for companies and cheaper for consumers. What do you think?
