DiGi recently formed a partnership with Tink Labs Limited to bring to Malaysia, a mobile travel solution, called “handy”. So, what is, handy? It is a complete hospitality solution, that essentially, thru the use of a dedicated smartphone (which is provided as a free amenity in partnering hotels to guests), allows remote access to hotel services, localised city guides and travel facilities.

In Malaysia, it is powered by DiGi, which, thru the utilisation of its wide 4G Plus network, allows guests to stay connected with unlimited access to high-speed internet, local and international calls. These mobile devices, which are provided directly in partnering hotels’ rooms, eliminates the hassle of buying local SIMs or costly mobile data roaming.

Guests can utilise this device like their own smartphones, with the added benefit of accessing hotel services, and locating nearby tourist hotspots. handy is also connected to the hotel’s directory, hence, room service can be ordered before guests return, or even, make a call to the helpdesk when they’re out, and might need help asking for directions in the local language.

Praveen Rajan, DiGi’s Chief Digital Officer said, “Technology is increasingly playing a central role in the travel experience. Being able to communicate better with guests, connect them to their destinations, bringing personalisation, these conveniences that prioritise guests at a touch of a button can lead to an increase in brand loyalty.” He then added, “Through this partnership with Tink Labs, we are looking to enable progressive hoteliers to tap into a readily available solution that has proven to improve bottom lines, and unlock previously unexplored opportunities by better understanding guest behaviour, while providing them with a seamless digital experience throughout their stay.”

“With our custom Android software and app drawer coupled with high-speed connectivity provided by DiGi, tourists can experience what their travel destination has to offer with the click of a button. It is a fantastic tool that not only enhances guest satisfaction, but also drive incremental revenues for various travel experiences such as dining and spa outlets,” added Wong Yu Hsiang, Managing Director (Southeast Asia, Australia & New Zealand) of Tink Labs.

Already a common feature in most 4-star to 5-star hospitality establishments in Asian countries, Hong Kong and Singapore, handy devices are available exclusively with DiGi as the sole distributor in Malaysia. From now until 31 March 2017, DiGi will be providing an introductory offer for adoption of the 'handy' mobile hospitality solution. For more information and sign-up, please visit digi.my/handy.
