Xiaomi is on a roll this year, after releasing several favourable smartphones such as the Mi MIX 3, Mi 9, Mi 9 SE and the recent Mi 9T in Malaysia, we got news from Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun on the current status of the Mi and Redmi series, as well as the Mi Max and Mi Note series this year...which won't be happening.

Straight from the man himself on the message boards of Weibo, he said Xiaomi will be focusing on three brand aspects for this year - the high-end Mi 9 series just as the ones we mentioned, the Mi MIX series as a stylish and business class flagship, and a new CC series that aims at the younger generation as camera-centric ones. He also mentioned about the Redmi series, as it will continue to be the fan favourite budget-friendly smartphone as it always has been.

Unfortunately, there aren't any plans for a new Mi Max and Mi Note phone this year. That's not to say that they have officially stopped production, but the fact that there's no plan at all says a lot. This could be a lot of factors, perhaps to below than average sales, and the new introduction of better phones with larger displays in a smaller body. In fact, the K20 or Mi 9T has effectively taken over the role of what the Mi Max and Mi Note phones been doing.

Xiaomi will probably still support software updates for the Mi Max and Mi Note series until the MIUI OS becomes obsolete. Until then, stay tuned for more Xiaomi news at TechNave.com.
