With the number of Covid-19 patients increasing in Malaysia, Digi has decided to offer people some peace of mind with a new insurance plan. The company has announced a Covid Cover insurance plan that will be available to Digi customers for free, valid for the first 200000 customers who subscribe to the plan.

This insurance plan is a short term (30 days from date of approval) one that is meant to help subscribed customers who need to receive treatment or be hospitalised due to Covid-19. According to Digi, the plan is underwritten by Gibraltar BSN and can be applied by Malaysians from the age of 18 to 60 years old. You can sign up for it even without any prior medical examination.

As for what the plan offers, customers will get RM60 for each day they are in a hospital and if they were to pass away (touch wood!) they would receive a Death benefit of RM20000. Those who are interested can sign up for the plan starting from today until 30 April 2020. However, there are only 200000 that can be redeemed so you will have to act fast to get it for free.

If you don't manage to sign up on time or if you're not a Digi customer, the plan can also be purchased from RM5 per month and up to RM20 for 30 days. To sign up, Digi customers can use the MyDigi app and have the amount charged to their monthly phone bill or prepaid credit. Non-Digi customers will have to sign up through www.easyadd.my and make payments using a debit or credit card. You can also find out more about the plan here.

It's interesting to see Digi offering something like this, though some may say that it's not something they would need. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
