Digi has recently announced that they are the first telco in the world to launch a system that makes mobile data usage easier to manage thanks to a collaboration with Google.

Available for all devices running the Android Operating System 4.0 or later, the system allows the customer to keep track of their mobile data as well as top-up additional data whenever necessary directly from their Android device without the need to download any third-party app.

While this feature will only be available for selected users only, it is expected to roll out gradually to more customers in the future. That being said, I personally think that this is a great innovation because not only does it save space on the Android device. It will also convenient for users who are not very tech savvy as they don’t need to go through the trouble of downloading the telco’s third-party app on the Play Store.

That being said, I wonder how Digi is going to implement their rewards system similar to the one that is available on the MyDigi App. Also, will we see more local telcos such as Celcom, Maxis, U Mobile and more adopt this feature?
