The Digital Ministry believes that Sarawak has great potential in the global gaming industry and become a world hub for game development innovation. This is thanks to the state’s rich cultural heritage and rapidly growing technological scene.
Bernama quoted Deputy Digital Minister Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong as saying that Sarawak has the chance to mix traditional wisdom with modern innovation in creating games. He lauded this as being appealing to the world while staying true to the Sarawak roots.
Wilson stressed that this vision is all about changing the game development scene by sharing knowledge and using the latest technology and that the Digital Ministry’s mission is just as ambitious. Accordingly, the Ministry is aiming to boost the gaming industry by encouraging the exchange of ideas, showcasing new technologies, and celebrating gaming culture through educational sessions.
Moreover, the Digital Ministry, through its agency the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) will support the gaming industry by providing various programmes and grants designed to nurture talent, promote local game developers and attract international gaming companies to Malaysia. MDEC also offers platforms for networking, market access, and capacity building, ensuring the industry thrives both locally and globally.
