As was foretold, the subscription price for Disney+ Hotstar will be increased and the date is set from 24 April 2024 onwards. In addition, the company will also remove the current plan and replace it with five new additional plans.

According to the Helpdesk page, there will be new Basic and Premium plans. The Monthly Basic Plan starts at RM24.90 per month, while the Premium version is RM39.90 per month. Alternatively, you can choose to pay every quarterly or yearly depending on your preference.

To refresh your memory, the current and only plan is the RM54.90 quarterly plan. For a month, it's basically RM18.30 but compared with the new monthly plan, that's a RM6.60 difference. In fact, all the new five plans are much more expensive (except for the Annual Basic Plan). For instance, the Quarterly Premium Plan is RM79.90, which is a RM25 jump from the original plan.

What's the difference between the Basic and Premium plan? From the chart, the ones using the Basic plan can only stream on one concurrent screen, whereas the latter goes up to three screens. The maximum device logins are also set for three and ten devices, respectively. And finally, the Basic Plan is only getting FHD (1080p), and 4K Ultra HD (2160p) is reserved for Premium.

If you continue subscribing after 24 April, you are likely going to pay for the Quarterly Premium Plan. There is also an important note regarding that, which is the excerpt written below:

"Please note that the prices above are for new subscriptions as of 24 April, 2024. If you signed up for a subscription prior to this date, you will see a price change in your billing period on or after 24 April, 2024.  That being said, you could still be affected by the price increase even though your billing cycle ends before 24 April 2024. That would happen if we are unable to process your payment before 24 April 2024 and the payment succeeds on or after 24 April 2024."
